RAWALPINDI: A person was killed when Indian forces resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations from across the Line of Control in Khanjar Sector on Monday.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said: “In continuation of violation of ceasefire understanding, Indian army resorted to unprovoked firing and targeted civilian population in Khanjar Sector along the Line of Control (LOC).”
A civilian namely Guftar Hussain, 51, was martyred in unprovoked mortar shelling by the Indian troops, it added.
“Responding to this aggression, Pakistan Army posts retaliated effectively and engaged enemy posts involved in unprovoked fire on innocent civilian population,” the military’s media wing said.
This is the second breach of the ceasefire agreement by India in less than 10 days as the unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian forces in Kotkotera Sector along the Line of Control (LoC) had led to the killing of a civilian.
Subsequently, the Director General (SA & SAARC), Dr. Mohammad Faisal, had summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner to lodge protest over the death of the civilian.
“The Indian Forces have carried out more than 2,000 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the martyrdom of 32 innocent civilians, while injuring 122 others,” the Foreign Office had said in a statement.
