ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza will announce the final result of the presidential election today.
After announcement of the official result, the federal government would notify the name of the successful candidate for the office of the President of Pakistan.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan released a statement announcing that the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate Dr Arif Alvi won the election by bagging 353 votes, followed by Maulana Fazl ur Rehman who managed to secure 185 while Aitzaz Ahsan of PPP bagged 124 votes.
President Arif Alvi will take the oath of his office on Sunday. He will replace the incumbent President Mamnoon Hussain whose five-year term is due to expire on coming Saturday.
