ISLAMABAD: As investigation officer Mehboob Aalm recorded his statements on Friday, the testimonies of all persecution witnesses were completed today in Al-Azizia reference against the Sharif family.
Accountability court Judge Arshad Malik was heading the proceeding of graft references against former premier Nawaz Sharif and his family in an accountability court of Islamabad.
Mehboob Aalm initiated recording of his statement a day earlier and concluded it with today’s hearing. The accountability court has now directed the investigation officer to appear before it on Tuesday for the cross examination by legal counsels of Nawaz.
The ousted prime minister was granted an exemption from appearance today.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) presented a total of 22 witnesses before the accountability court in Al-Azizia reference.
The court announced to adjourn Al-Azizia case hearing until Monday and further summoned prosecution’s star witness Wajid Zia, Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head, on Monday in order to record his statements in the remaining Flagship Investment reference.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN-) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif and his sons Hussain Nawaz and Hasan Nawaz have been nominated in Al-Azizia Hill Metal company case.
Yesterday, Nawaz Sharif traveled to Islamabad to appear before the accountability court, after the hearing he headed back to his home in Lahore.
PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retired) Safdar were released from Adiala prison after an Islamabad High Court bench suspended their sentence and ordered their release on bail.
