LAHORE: Rafique Rajwana filed the resignation from his post of governor of Punjab on Wednesday.
While speaking to journalists, Rajwana said that he would resume his profession of being a lawyer after tendering his resignation.
Rajwana highlighted that he made his decision to resign after consultation with the PML-N leadership. “A new government has been formed and it should appoint the new governor of the province,” he added.
In 2015, Rajwana was appointed as the 36th governor of Punjab, succeeding Chaudhry Sarwar.
According to sources, there are high chances that Sarwar will be again nominated as new governor of Punjab by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Last month, Muhammad Zubair who also stepped down from the post of Sindh governor.
