KARACHI: Ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) presidential candidate Arif Alvi on Tuesday met senior leadership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) in Karachi and signed an agreement to further strengthen the working relationship between the two parties, ARY News reported.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Arif Alvi said that resolving Karachi’s issues will be his party’s top priority and his party will fight on all forums to give city a proper local body system.
“We have had a comprehensive meeting to resolve issues people of Sindh, particularly those living in Karachi are facing and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed keeping in view the demands and conditions of both the parties,” said Arif Alvi.
MQM-P Chief and Minister for IT Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, on his turn, said that his party will continue to support PTI within his party remits for the betterment of Sindh, especially the urban areas of the province.
“Karachi is sort of a city that when its gets resources, it pays back to the country at large, and I feel that time has come to change the fate of urban areas of Sindh and they will get their due share,” said Siddiqui.
Siddiqui added that his party has not disappointed PTI in the past and will not do so now for the working relationship is going forward smoothly.
It is pertinent to note here that MQM-P is one of the major allies of the PTI government after the Imran Khan-led party formed government after July 25 elections.
MQM-P’s Farogh Nasim and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui have already been included as law minister and minister for information technology respectively in PM’s Imran Khan cabinet.
