ISLAMABAD: Pakistan TehreeK-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and prime minister-in-waiting Imran Khan on Monday said he has yet not decided as to who will be party candidate for the slot of chief minister of Punjab.
He was responding to a question put to him by a reporter on the premises of the National Assembly after the oath-taking of newly elected members of parliament.
About controversial remarks of the chief of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, about Independence Day, he said this time August 14 will be celebrated more vigorously than it was done previously.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTI leaders Aleem Khan and Yasmin Rashid are being tipped for the slot of chief executive of Punjab, but the party has yet not officially announced its candidate for the position.
The PTI, which won the 2018 general elections, is set to form the government at the Centre, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the help of independent members and coalition partners, including Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q).
The PTI claims to have reached the magical number of over 180 MPAs in the 371-house with the support of its allies and 25 independent members out of the total of 29.
The formerly governing PML-N, which emerged as the largest party in Punjab, couldn’t get the support of required number of members to form government in the country’s largest and politically most important province as it could win over a single independent.
