LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday cleared all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez on the matter of his statement about International Cricket Council (ICC) protocols on bowling action.
The decision was taken after he appeared before a three member PCB disciplinary committee to explain his position in response to the show cause notice issued to him by the national cricket board.
The committee included Director Cricket Operations Haroon Rasheed, Director Media and Co-ordination Amjad Hussain and General Manager Legal Salman Naseer.
The committee accepted Hafeez’s explanation and asked him to clarify his comments to the media as well.

Hafeez made the following statement: “My intention was not to criticise ICC protocols nor did I mention any respected cricket board in my interview. The interview was all about my suggestions to improve the (bowling action tests) standards and to remove doubts if any from minds of fans of cricket. Unfortunately, my comments were misinterpreted and used out of context.”
The PCB has announced not to take any further action on the matter.
Earlier in an interview with BBC Urdu, he reportedly said, “There are so many things influencing all this [who gets called for suspect actions], it has a lot to do with the power of [some cricket] boards and nobody wants to take them on.
“Mostly there are soft corners and relations between people which no one wants to spoil. What I say is why not implement the rule and get every bowler in the world to go through [testing]. What’s the difficulty in that?”
