NEW YORK: Nobel Prize laureate and activist Malala Yousafzai is working on her next book about refugees and their plights.
Little, Brown Books for Young Readers told Associated Press on Monday that Yousafzai’s ‘We Are Displaced’ will come out Sept 4.
The book will combine her own experiences with accounts she has heard while visiting refugee camps.
Malala’s memoir I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban, co-written with British journalist Christina Lamb, was published in October 2013 by the same Little, Brown and Company in the US. A reviewer for The Guardian called the book “fearless” and stated that “the haters and conspiracy theorists would do well to read this book”, though she criticised “the stiff, know-it-all voice of a foreign correspondent” that is interwoven with Yousafzai’s
The 20-year-old activist for female education said in a statement that she hoped to show “the humanity behind the statistics”. Yousafzai also is known for her memoir, ‘I Am Malala’.
According to report published in 2017, Malala Yousafzai and her family have now become millionaires from the girl’s international best-selling book and lecture tours.
A firm set up to handle cash said Malala has £2.3million in its coffers.
Last year the company turned over £1.1million, and the teenager will have to pay a tax bill of £200,000.
Malala stars in speaking engagements, and has become an advocate for women’s rights, across the world.
She came to prominence when a Taliban gunman shot her in the head on her school bus in 2012, Malala continued campaigning on the world stage and in 2014 became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner.
