KARACHI: A court here on Monday sentenced two Chinese nationals to one year’s imprisonment for their involvement in an ATM skimming fraud.
The court also directed them to furnish a fine of Rs50, 000 each and warned that upon failure to do so they will have to undergo additional imprisonment.
According to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the suspects were caught for their involvement in ATM skimming fraud from the city’s Defence area.
Of late, police arrested at least five Chinese nationals red-handed for their alleged involvement in skimming money from ATMs in Karachi.
Four Chinese nationals were arrested from Defence whereas another was arrested from Bahadurabad.
Around Rs2.9 million, skimming devices and ATM cards were seized from their possession.
The suspects were said to be a part of a gang of foreigners behind the ATM skimming frauds in Karachi.
